Try to Kill Your Idea Before You Build It

On Thursday a friend of mine said he could use a product I’m thinking of launching and I flat-out told him “no you don’t.”

I’m not looking for reasons to build and launch this thing. I would much prefer to kill it and just stick with coaching full-time. I love my work.

If I’m going to divert and time from coaching, it has to be because I genuinely tried to kill the idea and it wouldn’t die.

Starting a company is easy. Building a company is hard. It’s genuinely crazy to launch a startup knowing that it never gets easier over time, just different hard.

My friend Thursday didn’t push back and say, “no, I really need that thing.”

Instead, he laughed and said, “Okay, I don’t need your product. Fuck your product!”

Exactly. Fuck my product.

49 more of those and I can get on with my life 😆
