Founders, I have never seen a better summary of how to build momentum in an early-stage startup. It's not about you -- it's about the earliest followers who join your movement.
The founder (aka, the person with the vision) is a lone nut until some brave soul joins them. And even then, you need a few more to join the cause and let everyone else know that it's safe to participate.
We tend not to think in those terms when we're building a SaaS company or a new videogame or whatever, but most people fear the new and unexpected.
When someone reaches out and asks you about what you're working on, cultivate that interest! Even if it's just some rando who's never going to be a customer, their early voice can make the difference between a future tsunami and tepid puddle.
This is some straight-up galaxy brain material, here. But I would expect nothing less from Derek Sivers. Also, this is 14 years old, so maybe I'm the last person to this specific dance party?
It's less than three minutes long. Give it a watch!
