How to Know When to Let Go of a Startup Idea

Have you ever had a startup idea that, though you've invested months or even years, you just can't give up on?

I've got several of those. Reinventing email as a task management system. Or a tool that keeps track of the news and gives you a heads up when there are opportunities to reach out to your contacts. Or a really good aggregator that uses ML to deliver more personalized content.

Figuring out how to let go is often way harder than coming up with the idea in the first place.

A common aphorism in science is that it's impossible to prove a negative. Yet with startups, the opposite is often more true -- the only way to prove an idea is really good is to make it successful, but even in the absence of that success, we still believe that the idea has value.
